The af-100 has arrived!

Face Tha Music

Spent the day with director Javier Goin shooting a new video for Face That Music @ The Factory Studios. Shot on Canon 7d w/ Canon L series 24mm. L series glass is so so sweet. Although I prefer the contrast/color rendition of Zeiss lenses vs Canon…Canon lenses like all other lenses have character to them, and sometimes that character can better serve the project.

MAG ft. Jae Millz “Polos and Timbos”

I operated steadicam on this video with director Javier Goin. Shot on Canon 7d w/ Zeiss Distagon 18mm. I love this 18mm on the 7d with the 1.6x crop. It is super sharp edge to edge. This video was fun to shoot, and the locations were very effective for the song

Completed Melky Video looks great

I am really happy with how this video turned out

I thought this was cool.

The 8k camera…

I never really took JVC too seriously…I think it may be time. Out of the blue they released what would be an option of either an 8k or 4k body. That is 8,912 x 4,320 or 3,840 x 2,160 resolution choices. With all of these 4k cameras on the rise it is inevitable that someone has an 8k or even 12k camera in the works. No word on the sensor or price point yet but look out RED. Looks like someone news coming to town.

Music Video with Melky, Sedeck & Wycleff Jean

I got to shoot a music video for the Haiti disaster relief featuring Melky, Sedeck & Wycleff Jean. The Jean family are really great people and I am honored to be a part of such a great project w/ director Hezues R.

Shot on Canon 7d w/ PL mount and Zeiss Super speed primes 18, 35, and 50mm. Zeiss primes were a great choice for this project. The video has a mix of shoulder rig, slider and steadicam moves. I am really excited to see it completed. The best part was a surprise birthday celebration for our producer Maureen. An entire church of gospel choir singers and crew can sing a pretty amazing happy birthday.

Spa 88 Commercial

I took a nice relaxing day shooting a commercial for spa 88 on Fulton st. I walked into this place thinking it was a small massage parlor and entered a lavish Russian bath house. This place is a massive underground hang out for people to forget about winter and relax in a bathrobe. Shot on the RED MX w/ Red pro primes. This was the first time I was able to use the Arri wireless follow focus/iris compact unit WCU-3.

I was really amazed at this follow focus unit, calibration is a breeze and a click of a button, and hard stops….what more can you ask for? Compared to other wireless systems like the the Preston or Bartech, this thing is so small in size and light weight. By far the best wireless system I have ever used.

Columboid Music Video

I gaffed a music video for the band Columboid in Brooklyn. Shot on the Canon 5d at ISO 200. The space was very tight, I used a mix of cardellinis, baby plates, pole cats, scissorĀ  and spring clamps to hide as much as I could. The nice thing about music videos is a little flare on the lens is no always a bad thing.

Give them a listen http://www.myspace.com/columboid
